Boomerang
award for the Cégep@distance
On December 1, 2005, the Cégep@distance won a prize at the 10th
Boomerang awards, held to recognize the best online and multimedia productions
in Quebec. |
|
Lachimie.com
took the grand prize for best website in the Education category, edging
out Clicfrançais and Radio-Canada.ca's Zone archives.
Produced by the Cégep@distance in conjunction with SMI, Lachimie.com
is a multimedia environment made up of a website and five TV shows based
on three virtual web chemistry labs.
Guillaume Aniorté, the delegated producer at SMI, was especially
proud of the prize because the creation of lachimie.com posed a significant
challenge: "it wasn't easy to create virtual labs that could really
plunge the students into a learning environment, letting them do all the
tasks normally carried out in a real lab," he explained. Alain Gervais,
assistant director at the Cégep@distance, added that the goal was
achieved "through the combined expertise and efforts of a very experienced
multimedia team,
renowned chemistry professors, and instructional designers who specialize
in distance education."
The Cégep@distance has been designing, producing and distributing
college-level distance education courses in print and online formats since
1991. This first collaborative project with SMI was made possible by the
financial support of the Videotron Fund.
